Ferries of Dover

At the age of 13, John Hendy was given a simple camera with which he immediately started to record the Ferries of Dover. Now 50 years on, and after a succession of ever-more sophisticated cameras, he has amassed a huge collection of photographic images which cover all the significant changes that have occurred throughout the five decades presently under review. A transport revolution has totally changed Dover from a port which then relied on rail-connections at the Admiralty Pier (Western Docks) to a complete re-emphasis in the patterns of trade.
