Manxman - The last of the line

The turbine steam ship Manxman of 1955 was the Steam Packet’s final ‘classic’ passenger-only steamer. As the final flowering of a class of six post-war vessels, the ship not only outlasted her contemporaries but all other British registered turbine-driven steamers involved in cross-Channel and coastal passenger work. Her withdrawal at the end of the 1982 season saw her saved for static use but this proved to be a hollow success. After brave efforts to preserve the deteriorating ship, she was finally broken up 30 years later.  A5. 64 pages plus 4 page cover. Published 28th September 2026.
